Overview

Guide
was initially conceptualized for an Interaction Design (IxD) class, but I took it a step further by challenging myself to redesign key screens within 24 hours for a application project, treating it as a mini designathon to push my evolving design skills,

With foundational work already completed—including the problem statement, objectives, user research, early branding, design system, color palette, and typography—I focused the 24-hour sprint on recreating two refined screens. Drawing inspiration from Framer Community and Dribbble templates, I refined the UI while maintaining a strong emphasis on usability, aesthetics, and consistency. This project showcases my ability to rapidly prototype, iterate, and execute a polished, user-centric design under time constraints.

The Problem

Finding therapy when I needed it most felt nearly impossible. During one of the most difficult times in my life, I sought professional help but was met with frustrating barriersoutdated websites, limited contact information, and months-long waitlists. Many therapists were on leave or had no available sessions, leaving me feeling lost, alone, and hopeless.

After countless calls, I finally found a therapist who was relatively close (30 minutes away), accepted my insurance, and had limited availability that barely fit my schedule. As a full-time student working nearly full-time, I had to sacrifice work shifts just to attend sessions. The lack of an efficient, accessible scheduling system made an already overwhelming process even harder, highlighting the urgent need for a better way to connect people with the right mental health professionals seamlessly.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Guide was designed as a streamlined therapy scheduling platform that prioritizes accessibility, availability, and ease of use. The goal was to create a system where users could quickly find therapists based on real-time availability, scheduling, insurance compatibility, and proximity(In person/Online Options)—without endless calls or outdated information.

By focusing on a human-centered approach, Guide provides a sense of clarity, control, and immediate action for individuals seeking mental health support—removing unnecessary friction and making therapy more accessible and stress-free.

Design Process

1. Research & Problem Definition – Identified key barriers to accessing therapy, including long wait times, lack of contact info, and scheduling difficulties. Defined objectives to streamline search, improve accessibility, and simplify booking.

2. User Personas & Journey Mapping – Mapped frustrations and optimized the user flow for seamless scheduling and therapist matching.

3. Wireframing & UI Design
– Developed low-fidelity wireframes to structure core interactions, then refined them into high-fidelity UI screens with a calming, intuitive design system.

4. Prototyping & Iteration
– Focused on real-time availability, smart filters, and clear navigation. Iterated based on feedback to enhance clarity and usability.

5. Final Execution – Built and refined two polished screens in 24 hours, leveraging inspiration from Framer Community and Dribbble, ensuring a user-friendly, accessible therapy scheduling experience.

Conclusion & Results

Through rapid iteration and a user-centered design approach, Guide was developed to address the critical barriers in finding therapy. By focusing on real-time availability, intuitive scheduling, and accessibility, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design can simplify an otherwise frustrating process.

The final product—a refined, user-friendly interface designed within 24 hours—highlights my ability to problem-solve under time constraints, create cohesive design systems, and prioritize user experience. This project serves as a strong foundation for future iterations, reinforcing the importance of accessible mental health solutions through effective design.
