Overview

Ikigai Powerlifting is a brand focused on strength training and athletic performance. For this project, I designed an informative slideshow to showcase key elements of effective visual communication in fitness branding. The goal was to create an engaging, educational resource that conveys complex information in an accessible and visually appealing manner.

Design Approach

The slideshow was crafted with a strategic focus on clarity, engagement, and brand alignment. Key elements include:

  • Color Selection: A carefully chosen color palette that reflects Ikigai Powerlifting’s identity, reinforcing strength, energy, and professionalism while ensuring readability.

  • Placement & Layout: Thoughtful arrangement of text, images, and icons to guide the viewer’s eye smoothly through the content, ensuring a balanced and intuitive design.

  • Charts & Graphs: Data visualization techniques to simplify complex statistics and trends, making the information digestible and actionable for the audience.

  • Logo Branding: Consistent integration of Ikigai Powerlifting’s logo across slides to reinforce brand recognition and cohesion.

Design Process

The design was created using Figma for layout structuring and interactive elements, along with Photoshop for image editing and refinements. These tools enabled an efficient and streamlined workflow while maintaining design precision.

I started by sourcing images of athletes under the Ikigai Powerlifting banner. Wanting to make an immediate impact, I chose Mae Angeli Saguil, one of the top female athletes in the sport. With numerous first-place finishes in USAPL professional events and cash prizes upwards of $10,000, Mae’s achievements highlight the brand’s potential for success. Featuring Mae helped represent the caliber of athletes Ikigai coaches and transforms into high-level competitors. I also incorporated professionally taken images to add a formal touch and convey serious insights into the coaching branch.

To select typography, I opted for Oswald, a strong yet legible sans-serif font. Keeping the slides engaging, I included a video to demonstrate bar path and created graphs to present key data visually. After researching in Figma and refining designs with ChatGPT, I chose a powerful red (#E63946) to complement the black-and-white logo. I opted for a black-and-white background to enhance readability and visual hierarchy, creating a solid base for bold, lighter text. The design system I developed ensured consistency across all slides.

  • Research & Concept Development: Understanding Ikigai Powerlifting’s brand identity and audience helped tailor the design elements to meet their goals.

  • Layout Planning: I mapped out the flow of the slideshow to ensure a seamless narrative and logical progression.

Visual Refinement: I refined typography, color schemes, and graphical elements to achieve a polished and aesthetically appealing final product.

  • Feedback & Iteration: I reviewed the design to refine any elements that could enhance clarity, engagement, or alignment with the brand’s vision.

  • Repeat & Reiterate: Continuously refining the design ensured that the final product aligned with brand goals and user expectations.

Message & Impact

This slideshow serves both as an educational tool and a brand-building asset. By presenting data-driven insights in a visually engaging format, the project enhances audience understanding while reinforcing Ikigai Powerlifting’s authority in the strength training space. The design conveys professionalism, motivation, and accessibility—core values that resonate with the brand’s mission.

Through this project, I pushed my skills in branding, data visualization, and digital storytelling while delivering a valuable resource for the powerlifting community.
